The US-led attack in Caracas to capture President Nicolas Maduro has killed 100 people , Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced.
"So far, and I stress so far, there have been 100 deaths, 100, and a similar number of injuries," Cabello said during a broadcast on public television. He added: "The attack on our country was terrible."
Interim President Delcy Rodríguez also returned to the topic of the American military raid, denouncing the existence of an unprecedented "stain" in relations with the United States following Maduro's capture on January 3.
"Regarding Venezuela and the United States, the first thing to say is that there is a stain on our relations that has never existed in our history," said Rodríguez, who took office on Monday.
The president then emphasized that Caracas does not reject international dialogue, recalling that 27% of Venezuelan exports are destined for the United States, within a trade concentrated among just a few countries.
Rodríguez reiterated that Venezuela "is not at war," but "a country of peace under attack by a nuclear power," assuring that the government's position will remain one of market diversification and resistance to all forms of economic pressure.
