" The news we receive is fragmentary , often incomplete, and made even more confusing by translations . This is why I want to go there in person , to really understand what's happening." Alessio Greco, 44, brother of Valentina – the 42-year-old from Cagliari who has long lived in Sidi Bou Said , and of whom there has been no news for ten days – is preparing to leave for Tunisia, in an attempt to shed light on his sister's disappearance.

" We are in close contact with the Embassy , law enforcement, and friends," Greco explains. "But only there can I better understand and seek the truth. We are very concerned that she hasn't contacted us ; it's not like her. We are very worried, but we continue to hope for an answer. And that she can't contact us for some reason; she could even be held back by someone." Valentina's brother isn't ruling out any possibility. The 42-year-old reportedly recently received advances from a man, whom she rejected.

"The man my sister rejected," she explains, "works in the area where Valentina lives. I can't say anything else; there are ongoing investigations, but I'd definitely like to know a lot more. The Islam lead? My sister is fascinated by the local culture, but she's never said or hinted at being fascinated by the religion . She's also very concerned about women's rights; we're not thinking of a mysterious conversion. But we're not ruling anything out." The hope is that she can be hospitalized: "I want to personally check with all the hospitals in the area. My sister, due to a blood clot, has to take anticoagulants. She may have felt ill, perhaps without documents, and been hospitalized."
