For the first time in the history of the United States of America, a speaker of the House was "torpedoed".

This is Kevin McCarthy, ousted on the initiative of the far-right republicans (with the votes of some Democrats).

As mentioned, a case that has never happened.

The official reason for the dismissal would be some agreements mediated by the president of the House of Representatives with the Democratic Party, but for many there is much more behind it.

According to what was reported by the New York Times, for example, Steve Bannon, Donald Trump's former controversial strategist, is behind the chaos in the Republican Party, which is now split in the House.

A few hours before "taking out" McCarthy, in fact, deputies Matt Gaetz, the instigator of the revolt against the speaker, and Nancy Mace, who voted against McCarthy, visited Bannon's radio studios near Congress. And Bannon himself, the NYT reports, would have contributed to moving the cards to create the current chaos among the Republicans, with the aim of capitalizing on it for his podcast in order to increase its audience.
