Street protests in Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed the shooting death of a 37-year-old woman, Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three and the wife of a migrant activist.
"He shot in self-defense," President Donald Trump justified. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, on the other hand, said the shooting was "totally foreseeable" and "totally avoidable." Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey also pointed the finger at the federal authorities: "An officer used reckless force, resulting in a person's death."
The incident, as mentioned, triggered several street demonstrations, including in New York City, and sparked political controversy.
Democratic leaders in the House and Senate are calling for an investigation: "This murder must be thoroughly investigated, in full compliance with the law," said House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.
