Choc in France, in the small commune of Chambon-Feugorrolles in the Loire.

Here a 23-year-old father was arrested on charges of throwing his two daughters aged two and four out of the window of his fourth-floor home .

The youngest died a few hours later in hospital, the other is still alive but hospitalized in critical condition.

The neighbors raised the alarm when they realized the tragedy: the largest was taken to Lyon by helicopter rescue, the smallest to Saint-Etienne, where she died shortly after.

Residents and rescuers " were very shocked " after seeing the two lifeless bodies on the ground, town mayor David Fara said.

According to the newspaper Le Parisien, the family had long been under the lens of social services. The girls were at home with their father only: the mother had left home with the girls in 2021, after having reported having suffered domestic violence for a long time .

The man denied that he was responsible for the act, during the interrogation he spoke very little.
