No Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, at least for now. This is the summary of the "tense" meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky . Axios describes the behind-the-scenes details of the face-to-face meeting between the two presidents. The meeting ended abruptly after two and a half hours.
" I think we're done. Let's see what happens next week ," Trump said, referring to his upcoming face-to-face meeting with Vladimir Putin in Budapest. Zelensky spoke with Europeans after the meeting, and many, Axios reports, appeared perplexed by Trump. During Zelensky's conversation with European leaders, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer proposed working with the United States to develop a peace plan for Ukraine, along the lines of Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte proposed an urgent follow-up meeting among European national security advisers over the weekend . During the White House meeting, the Ukrainian leader pushed hard for the Tomahawks, but Trump showed no flexibility. So much so that the country, for now, will have to abandon the missile idea.
