Donald Trump raises global tariffs from 10% to 15%, effective immediately.

The US president states this on his social media platform Truth.

"I, as president, will, effective immediately, raise global tariffs from 10% on countries, many of which have 'ripped off' the United States for decades, without retaliation (until I came along!), to the fully permissible and legally tested level of 15%," Trump said, referring to Section 212 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows global tariffs of up to 15% but for a period of only 150 days.

"Over the next few months, the Trump administration will determine and issue the new legally permissible tariffs that will continue our extraordinary and successful journey to Make America Great Again," Trump added , returning to his criticism of the Supreme Court ruling, which he called "ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily un-American."
