Donald Trump has chosen his attorney general: Pam Bondi, a former Florida prosecutor and current president of the Center for Litigation at the America First Policy Institute, a right-wing think tank that is working with Trump's transition team on the administration's agenda.
The nomination of Bondi, 59, a Trump loyalist, comes after the stepback of Matt Gaetz , a former Republican congressman engulfed in controversy after two women claimed to have had paid sex with him, with one of them also accusing him of having had intimate relations with a minor.
“As Florida’s first female prosecutor, she fought to stop drug trafficking and reduce the number of fentanyl overdose deaths. She did an incredible job,” Trump said on his social Truth announcing Bondi’s nomination. “For too long, the Department of Justice has been used against me and other Republicans. But not anymore. Pam will bring it back to its core of fighting crime and making America safe. She’s smart and tough, she’s an America First fighter, and she’ll do a fantastic job,” the president-elect added.
