Without a nuclear deal between the United States and Iran, "Iran risks being bombed and having new sanctions."
US President Donald Trump said this in an interview with NBC TV. "If they don't reach an agreement, there will be bombings ," Trump said, referring to the fact that US and Iranian officials are negotiating. "But there is a possibility that if they don't reach an agreement, I will apply secondary tariffs to them like I did four years ago," the Washington leader added.
Iran's response was not long in coming. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said Tehran would "respond forcefully" if the country were attacked by the United States.
“They are threatening to do harm,” Khamenei said in a live televised speech, referring to U.S. threats. “If this is implemented, they will certainly receive a severe counterattack.”
