As Hamas rejects Israel's latest counter-proposal for a truce in Gaza , accusing the Jewish state of wanting to "derail any agreement," Netanyahu has arrived in Hungary for a meeting with Orban.

The Israeli Prime Minister landed at Budapest airport during the night, welcomed on the tarmac by Hungarian Defense Minister Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky. In the morning he will meet with Orban , then a joint press conference is expected.

The Hungarian president extended the invitation to the Israeli prime minister last November , a day after the ICC issued its warrant against Netanyahu for alleged war crimes in the Gaza Strip. Orban assured that he would not execute the warrant , saying that the court's decision "intervenes in an ongoing conflict, for political purposes."

The ICC stressed that Hungary has a "legal obligation" and "responsibility towards other states" to enforce the court's decisions.
