Railway accident in the district of Munich, Germany. This afternoon, two regional trains of the S7 S-Bahn collided head-on.

There is at least one victim, a driver, dozens of injured, some of whom are in serious condition. According to Bild, on board the two convoys there were a total of about one hundred people, several students according to some witnesses.

The police speak of a "disaster" whose causes are still to be clarified. The accident occurred on a single track section, it seems that one train left before the other passed. The impact was very violent.

"There are numerous emergency services on site and the route is currently completely closed," the police said on Twitter.

The collision occurred around 4:40 pm, images released in the German media show passengers standing next to the track after the collision and at least one partially derailed carriage.

Passengers aboard the trains told the Merkur newspaper that they heard a loud bang and were thrown forward.

According to local radio, two S-Bahn trains nearly collided in the same area last August, but both drivers managed to brake in time.
