A promising young French skier, 18-year-old Margot Simond, died after falling during training in Val d'Isère, Savoy. The French Ski Federation announced. The Albertville prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy.

A tragedy reminiscent of that of Matilde Lorenzi , the Piedmontese skier from the junior national team who died after an accident during training in Alto Adige and which once again raises the issue of safety in the world of alpine skiing .

"The ski sports movement has learned of the tragic death of Margot Simond, a promising young competitor," reads a brief statement from the FFS on X. Last March, Simond had won the title of French junior slalom champion .
