Seventeen-year-old boy injures three in Times Square shooting; arrested

A 17-year-old gunman opened fire on a crowd in New York City's Times Square, wounding three people . The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. local time (7:20 a.m. GMT) today , according to the New York Police Department. The youth was later arrested.
According to a police spokesperson, the three injured men are between the ages of 18 and 65 and were taken to the hospital in stable condition . Authorities are currently investigating the incident and the young man's motives.
"The perpetrator was arrested by police and the firearm was recovered," the NYPD spokesperson said, adding that the young man has not yet been formally charged. The shooting occurred at 44th Street and Seventh Avenue, an intersection in the heart of the Theater District, a popular tourist destination. At the end of July, a gunman shot four people and then committed suicide in a Manhattan skyscraper.
