Fifteen years in prison for trying to import nearly 3 kilos of cocaine hidden inside cans of beans and coconut milk into the UK.

This is the sentence imposed by the London court on two 43-year-old men accused of international drug trafficking.

According to the investigation, the two had flown "on vacation" to the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Here they would have procured the cocaine which they would then hide inside dozens of empty tin cans, labeled "Stewed beans" and "Coconut milk", which they would then close with a sealer and ship to England.

At customs, however, the agents realized the real contents of the cans and, after starting the investigations, managed to reach the perpetrators, then arrested, tried and now severely convicted.

"This story is a clear and strong message to those who intend to bring illegal substances into our borders. We take this type of crime very seriously and will leave no stone unturned to bring the traffickers to justice," he explained in a statement. Inspector Matthew Webb, of the London Metropolitan Police, commenting on the sentence.
