A rumor emerged today in Il Foglio that Luigi Di Maio, the current European Union Special Representative for the Persian Gulf, former Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of Labor, former Minister of Development, former Foreign Minister, and former heir apparent to Beppe Grillo's Five Star Movement (M5S) before their split in 2022, is in pole position to secure an important international post at the United Nations.

The role up for grabs, according to the newspaper edited by Claudio Cerasa, is that of United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO), a position that would also include appointment as Deputy Secretary-General of the UN (the position is based in Jerusalem). The purpose of the role: to coordinate the various UN bodies concerned with the future of Israel and the Palestinian territories and support the implementation of the Trump Plan.

Luigi Di Maio was reportedly contacted by the United Nations a few weeks ago. The parties involved in the operation have already expressed their approval, including the Italian government.

The process is still ongoing. While waiting for Blair, a Di Maio is on the way in the Middle East.
