The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has issued a new freedom-killing directive, aimed at targeting women. According to the provision issued by the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice of the province of Herat, from now on the heads must be removed from the mannequins in the shop windows.
According to international media reports, the Taliban believe that the heads of female mannequins offend Islam.
Aziz Rahman, head of the ministry's local department, described the mannequins as "statues" to be worshiped, recalling that this is prohibited by the Muslim faith.
The same regime has also announced "severe punishments" for shopkeepers who will not remove the heads of the mannequins.
