The Global Sumud Flotilla attacked by drones in international waters south of Crete.

Activists aboard vessels on a humanitarian mission to Gaza are denouncing the situation: "These operations," the Flotilla, which also includes Marco Loi, a Sardinian volunteer from Villaputzu , wrote on its social media, " are being carried out by Israel to intimidate us. But our determination is stronger than ever. These tactics will not deter us from our mission to deliver aid to Gaza. Every attempt to intimidate us only strengthens our commitment."

Pepper spray was reportedly fired at the flotilla, and communications signals were also blocked. Around ten vessels were hit, and a damage assessment is underway.

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani , on a mission to New York for the UN General Assembly, asked the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv to gather information and reiterate its previous request to the Israeli government to "guarantee the absolute protection of the personnel embarked on the Gaza Flotilla," including many Italians. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already advised the Israeli authorities to ensure that any operations by the armed forces "be conducted in compliance with international law and the principle of absolute caution."
