A serene image, between two white ponies held up by the bridle. So Buckingham Palace has chosen today to seal the 96th birthday of Queen Elizabeth - the longest-lived monarch in British history - by spreading it as a celebratory portrait on the court's social profiles, testifying to her love for nature and for horses.
The photo dates back to a month ago and was taken in Windsor Castle, where Elizabeth was effectively locked up since the beginning of the pandemic and spent the last few months in semi-isolation, except for some increasingly rare appointments. Even more so with walking problems and a contagion from Covid passed at the end of February not without a publicly admitted queue of fatigue. Shortly after, Buckingham Palace also shared a photo of a little Elizabeth.
Today, however, the queen has not given up on traveling by helicopter to the country residence of Sandringham, in English Norfolk, to spend her birthday and a few days thereafter in respect of a tradition dear to her and to the late Prince consort Philip, who died in 2021 almost centenary .
A private fit party, with a few family members and a few close friends. According to custom, His Majesty celebrates the anniversary of his birth in the intimacy of the family, while public celebrations take place in June: and this year they also coincide with the key events of the Platinum Jubilee which in 2022 marks its 70th anniversary of reign records.
