Twenty Islamic extremists were arrested in Tunisia. They are believed to belong to a cell that organized meetings on a daily basis in order to identify vital institutions in the governorate of Jendouba, in the north-west of the country, and monitor the movements of the security units in view of a possible attack.

The circumstances were communicated by the Ministry of the Interior in a note.

Against the 20 arrested, the Public Prosecutor's Office issued a precautionary custody order in prison pending the outcome of the investigations.
