Almost 2.3 tons of cocaine, destined for the drug dealing market in Italy, Turkey, Spain and Albania, were seized in Colombia, at the port of Cartagena de las Indias.

The gigantic consignment - which could have earned drug traffickers over $ 100 million - was inside a container full of export goods, ready to sail aboard a ship bound for the Dutch port of Rotterdam.

The agents of the Colombian National Police and those of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate - who suspected the presence of drugs - however decided to have the container analyzed with scanners, then proceeded to an inspection. And so 29 crates popped up with 2,279 rectangular, brick-like packages of different colors, containing cocaine inside.

It is not clear if there have been any arrests, but investigations continue to trace the origin of the drug.

The Colombian Police itself then released images showing the courtyard of a judicial warehouse literally "carpeted" with thousands of cocaine bricks requisitioned during the operation.
