In a short time, what was an underground parking lot with thousands of spaces has turned into a cemetery. This is what was discovered by Ume military divers who managed to enter the parking lot, completely flooded, of the huge Bonaire shopping center, near the city of Aldaya. At the time of the flood, on Tuesday afternoon, the clothing stores, restaurants and cinemas were open and there were hundreds of people in the area. Here too, the water level rose to three meters, and the parking lot, with 5,700 available spaces, became a real death trap.
According to initial reports, the number of victims could be "incalculable". Ironically, the maxi parking lot was free and unlimited. Even the access from the escalators to the shopping center is completely devastated, blocked not only by the water but also by the remains and debris brought by the violence of the flood. Even getting out of there was impossible.
According to the local press, this parking lot is one of the points of greatest concern for the rescue teams. There is still no official news but it has leaked out that there are many bodies inside. Along with the divers who are working in conditions of great difficulty, on the site there are also firefighters who with their pumps are working non-stop to empty the parking lot from the water.
