The Starship Super Heavy rocket returned successfully, but the capsule was lost. The seventh test of the SpaceX ship designed for future trips to the Moon and Mars ended with a bit of a flop. The rocket was hooked up to the launch tower, called Mechazilla, from which it had taken off just under seven minutes earlier. Instead, contact was lost with the capsule, which was supposed to return with a splashdown in the Indian Ocean along with the ten copies of the Starlink satellites it was supposed to release. SpaceX says it has lost the signal and there is no further news at the moment.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it had to ground or divert flights due to debris from SpaceX's latest mission . The FAA said air traffic has already returned to normal. On the Flightradar24 website, planes can be seen waiting or changing course in an area near Puerto Rico.
The seventh flight test of Starship, after the postponement of January 15th due to bad weather, began in the Italian night from Starbase , the launch base of Elon Musk's company in Boca Chica (Texas). Yesterday also the launch into orbit of New Glenn, of Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin , in a sort of "race".
