A drone crashed into a residential building in the city of Galați, Romania, a NATO member country , causing a fire. RBC-Ukraine reported this, citing Faytuks Network and the official Facebook page of the Romanian Emergency Response Service.

Two people, including a minor, were slightly injured. It is believed to have been a Russian drone , as at the time (shortly before 3 a.m.) the Russian Federation was conducting a massive drone strike in the Odessa region of Ukraine, and Galaţi is located not far from that area .

"According to initial reports, a Russian drone has crashed into an apartment building in the city of Galați, Romania. The incident occurred shortly after authorities issued a warning about the possibility of falling objects from the surrounding airspace," the Faytuks Network wrote.

The drone fell into a residential building and, following the impact, an explosion occurred, causing a fire in an apartment on the tenth floor.

The news was later confirmed by the Romanian Ministry of Defense: "During the night between May 28 and 29, the Russian Federation resumed drone strikes on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania," a statement read.

Bucharest called the incursion, with the related violation of airspace, "a serious and irresponsible escalation" and informed the NATO Secretary General .

NATO calls this a "reckless move," and Minister Crosetto also expresses "the firmest condemnation." "This represents a dangerous and irresponsible escalation that cannot be tolerated. Our deepest solidarity and support goes to Romanian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Radu-Dinel Mirută and all the Romanian people. In the face of these threats, NATO's cohesion remains unshakeable: the security of a member of the Alliance and the European Union is the security of us all. United in defense of peace, stability, and the Euro-Atlantic territory," the Defense Minister states.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte spoke with Romanian President Nicusor Dan. "I assured him of NATO's full solidarity and expressed our sympathy to those injured in the incident. I reiterated that NATO is ready to defend every inch of Allied territory . We will continue to strengthen our operational readiness to deter and counter any threat, including those posed by drones," he stressed, reiterating that "Russia's irresponsible behavior represents a danger to all of us."
