Director Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer, 68, were found dead in their Los Angeles home . Media reports indicate their bodies suffered consistent knife wounds.

The Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division is investigating the case, and has questioned one of the couple's sons, Nick Reiner.

When the firefighters arrived after a call around 3:30 PM local time, they could only confirm the deceased. The front door showed no signs of forced entry .

Reiner has directed around twenty films, including such successes as “When Harry Met Sally”, “Misery”, “A Few Good Men” and “Stand by Me” .
