The investigation by the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office continues into the alleged round of bribes that allegedly reached the pockets of MEPs and people well "integrated" into EU institutions from Qatar and Morocco.
According to the latest rumors, the investigation would have started from a "mole" among the MEPs themselves and the illicit system, we read in the papers, would have had Antonio Panzeri , former MEP of Pd and Article 1, as the "animator of the vast fraudulent organization", finished in prison together with the former vice president of the European Parliament Eva Kaili and the latter's partner Francesco Giorgi.
Meanwhile, while the Democratic Party has suspended MEP Andrea Cozzolino from party bodies until the closure of the investigations, the intelligence services continue to dig into the scandal, now trying to investigate not only the alleged illicit links between the people involved and Qatar, but also those that the system would have had with Morocco.
The suspicion is that the network of MEPs and EU officials involved in the corruption plot could be much wider than what has emerged so far.
