The former vice president of the Eurochamber, Eva Kaili , will see her 22-month-old daughter today in the Brussels prison of Haren, where the Greek MEP is being held for alleged corruption in the Qatargate case .

This was announced on Greek TV Alpha by Kaili's lawyer, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos. "The Greek MEP's previous requests had been rejected by the Belgian authorities who cited the lack of staff due to the holiday period and staff shortages," she explained. Kaili will be able to see her daughter for about three hours. Even the father of the little girl, Francesco Giorgi, is in prison.

The Greek lawyer, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, recalled how various NGOs, including Amnesty, pushed for Kaili to see the child. The Belgian authorities had always postponed, due to staff shortages. But, was the lawyer's attack, "it occurred to me that they were pressuring Kaili to confess, which is why they didn't allow her to see the child."

Meanwhile , after Doha, Rabat also joins the list of governments annoyed by the Qatargate investigation . Morocco's anger was clearly marked by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita: at his side, at the press conference, was the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell, who arrived in the Maghreb country to relaunch relations with Rabat.

Rabat plays a crucial role in contrasting illegal immigration to the Old Continent with the Spanish enclaves Ceuta and Melilla representing the first European landing point for hundreds of migrants fleeing the Sahel. But the partnership's revival has failed to escape the shadow of Qatargate.
