Dead 4 hours apart from a tick bite: tragedy for pilot Douglas Costa and his girlfriend

Tragedy in Brazil.

The pilot Douglas Costa and his girlfriend Mariana Giordano died within four hours of each other, due to a tick bite.

The sportsman was at the AMG Cup Brasil, an event dedicated to Mercedes GTs, when he fell ill. Admitted, he died in hospital. The same one in which his girlfriend Mariana Giordano was, who accused of similar illnesses. She too, didn't make it.

Both, as it emerged, had been infected with Rocky Mountain spotted fever, a virus caused by the bite of a tick and by the bacterium of the genus Rickettsia.

«Sunday she was given adrenaline and she felt good again – said Giordano's brother -. On Monday she went to the university for a course that was finishing up. At night she began to feel very ill and was hospitalized. On Tuesday they moved her to intensive care, she died on Thursday. Douglas died at noon and she died at 4.”
