The chair for the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony remains empty in Oslo City Hall. Award-winning Iranian activist, Narges Mohammadi, is still imprisoned in Iran, in Tehran's infamous Evin Prison.
It was her twin children, Kiana and Ali, 17 years old, who accepted the award and read the acceptance speech written by their mother.
In the message, Mohammadi condemned Iran's "tyrannical and misogynistic religious regime".
A staunch opponent of the obligation to wear the hijab for women and of the death penalty in the country, Mohammadi has been detained since 2021. Today she began a new hunger strike.
