He was accompanying his daughter to the hospital after she called him in a panic because she was feeling ill. For this reason, as his lawyer Omar Souidi explained to the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, former Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan was stopped by police in his home country with a suspended license.

"He didn't decide to drive despite the ban out of laziness or indifference," Souidi explained. " He was called by his daughter, who was panicking and feeling ill . She doesn't have a driver's license, and she asked her father to take her to the hospital. And he, driven by the need for medical assistance, went to pick her up."

Reports of the incident, which occurred last Saturday in Ranst, conducted in Belgium, suggest that Nainggolan ran a red light and grazed a police car . The midfielder, who played for Patro Eisden last season, failed a breathalyzer test. The car was seized by the police.
