Munich attack: 39-year-old Ukrainian Anastasia Berezovska wanted: "She fled via Italy."
The woman reportedly crossed the border at Ventimiglia, and an international arrest warrant has been issued. Investigators say she may not have acted alone. The tide is turning on Anastasia Berezovska, 39, the Ukrainian citizen wanted on an international arrest warrant for the attempted murder of pro-Russian oligarch Vadim Ermolaev and his family in Monaco. Investigators have reconstructed the woman's escape, which reportedly took her through Italy after the attack—which occurred in a country considered among the safest in the world.
The escape through France and Italy
According to the reconstruction of the Monegasque and French authorities, after planting the explosive device , the woman fled on foot to Beausoleil, in French territory, where she retrieved a car with German license plates, rented in Germany and previously left near the border. From there, she headed towards Italy, likely passing through the Menton area. Informed sources report that on the same day of the attack, she crossed the border at Ventimiglia, then directly into Switzerland. She subsequently returned to Germany.
Spotted in Frankfurt
The wanted woman was reportedly spotted in Frankfurt, where she lives. German police have already searched her apartment and the getaway car, collecting evidence deemed useful to the investigation. However, she remains unaccounted for. Authorities specify that an Interpol red notice, equivalent to an international request for her arrest, has been issued against her, and that the search is ongoing worldwide.
The charges and the profile of the wanted woman
According to the Interpol notification, Anastasia Berezovska is wanted for attempted murder, placing an explosive device for criminal purposes in a public place, and criminal conspiracy. In the Interpol file , she is described as brunette, with medium-length hair, a tattoo on her right arm—probably a snake—and a German speaker. According to investigative sources cited by the French press, she is also known for alleged ties to organized crime.
The investigations
Investigators initially believed the attacker was a man, described as wearing a black jacket, light-colored jeans, and a bob-style hat. However, a thorough analysis of surveillance camera footage and the testimony of a person who had come into contact with the suspect led to the identification of a woman. The Munich prosecutor explained that Berezovska had conducted several site inspections in the days leading up to the explosion and that, to avoid arousing suspicion, she had disguised herself as a man.
«She may not have acted alone»
Investigators, however, believe the attack was not the work of a single individual. The Principality's prosecutor stated that the evidence gathered "seems to indicate" that the suspect did not act alone, leaving open the possibility of possible accomplices. The target of the attack was Vadim Ermolaev, 58, a Ukrainian-born businessman and now a Cypriot citizen, who has been resident in the Principality since at least 2021. His partner and son were also seriously injured in the explosion. The child was hospitalized at the Lenval Children's Hospital in Nice, while the two adults were transported to the University Hospital Center in the French city. Ermolaev's life is no longer in danger, while the woman's condition remains critical. The businessman has been under Ukrainian sanctions since December 2023 for his economic activities in Crimea, a territory annexed by Russia.
