Moscow is concerned about the rearmament of the European Union , announced in recent days by the President of the Commission Ursula Von der Leyen.

An investment of 800 billion for European defense that "is mainly taking place against Russia," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov , quoted by the Interfax agency.

"All this militarization," Peskov said, "is taking place primarily against Russia, and this, of course, could be a matter of deep concern for us and the need to take appropriate countermeasures to ensure our security ."

Moscow, the spokesman stressed, is "closely monitoring" the EU's rearmament plans, because the European Union "identifies Russia as its main adversary."

" This hostile rhetoric and plans that we are witnessing in Brussels and in European capitals," Peskov concluded, "are obviously in serious contrast with the spirit of seeking peaceful solutions to the situation in Ukraine ."
