The Prosecutor's Office of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo has confirmed the arrest in the state of Veracruz of three people allegedly implicated in the murder of the Italian citizen Ornella Saiu , originally from Sardinia, which took place on May 31 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Attorney General Oscar Montes de Oca stated this in a press conference, specifying that the three arrested "will soon be placed at the disposal of the local judicial authority".

Saiu, 40, was killed by a gunman with a gunshot to the face while she was waiting tables in a well-known cafeteria in the coastal town of the state of Quintana Roo.
