Very high tension between Israel and Lebanon , after the massacre of children caused in Majdal Shams by a rocket launched by Hezbollah militiamen, which was followed by retaliatory raids by the Jewish State.
And there is alarm for the Italians present in the Middle Eastern country: 1,200 soldiers and another 3,000 compatriots.
In recent hours, civilians have received an invitation from the Farnesina to leave Lebanese territory as soon as possible.
«We follow with great attention not only our 1200 soldiers who train the Lebanese armed forces, but also the 3000 Italians. We are ready for any eventuality in the event that, and we hope that it does not happen, the situation worsens", said Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
«They commit us – added Tajani – to do everything necessary to protect the safety of Italians living in Lebanon. Today we certainly invite Italians who are in Lebanon to exercise maximum caution. Anyone who can return should do so. We strongly advise against going to that country while the situation is so complicated."
From August - and until February - the Sassari Brigade will take command of the Italian contingent and the Western sector of Unifil (the multinational United Nations interposition force in Southern Lebanon).
Leading the operation, called Leonte and aimed at ensuring compliance with resolution 1701 of 11 August 2006 of the UN Security Council, was General Stefano Messina , commander of the "Dimonios".
Of the approximately 1,200 Italian soldiers , there are over 500 Sassarini , belonging to the Brigade Command, the 151st Infantry Regiment, the Logistics Regiment, the Fifth Macomer Engineer Regiment and the 45th "Reggio" Command and Tactical Support Department.
