Modechai and Natalie Okhnin, the Israeli spouses arrested in Turkey eight days ago for photographing President Erdogan's home in Istanbul and accused of spying, were released.

This morning the couple returned to Tel Aviv on a private flight set up by the Israeli government. Head of State Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid publicly thanked Erdogan "for the cooperation".

The story ends with a happy ending but the situation had given rise to strong tensions between the two countries.
