A targeted assassination operation targeted Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar. Saudi Arabian TV (al Arabiya) reported that Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya (chief negotiator and former deputy to Yahya Sinwar) was killed in the attack. A senior Israeli official confirmed the attack to Channel 12, describing it as a retaliatory strike against the organization's leaders meeting in the city. The same sources reported that "US President Donald Trump has given the green light to the Israeli attack in Qatar."

According to initial reports, a powerful explosion hit the Katara neighborhood, home to Hamas's headquarters. Israeli broadcasters are showing images of huge plumes of smoke rising from the Qatari capital, while the government in Doha has yet to issue any official statement.

Iraqi broadcaster Sabrin News reported that the target of the attack was Hamas's headquarters in the city, while a Gaza source said senior Hamas officials were targeted. Qatar has not yet commented. According to Palestinian sources, other leaders were also present in the targeted building: Khaled Meshaal, Muhammad Darwish, Razi Hamad, and Izzat al-Rishq.
