Iran, no decision after the Situation Room meeting: "Trump will accept the deal only if Tehran respects the red lines."
A White House source said this."The meeting in the Situation Room has concluded and lasted about two hours. President Trump will only make a deal if it is beneficial to America and respects his red lines. Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon."
CNN White House correspondent Alayana Treene wrote this in a post on X, quoting a presidential official, according to whom there is "still no news regarding his promised final decision" on negotiations with Iran.
In a Truth post published before the meeting, the president insisted that an agreement to extend the ceasefire would require Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz, committing to never develop a nuclear bomb, and allowing the United States to remove Tehran's enriched uranium. These are all conditions Iran has repeatedly rejected.
The president implied that an agreement would prompt the United States to lift the naval blockade, which had targeted Iranian ships and ports, allowing the crucial oil and gas transport waterway to reopen . "Ships stranded in the Straits due to our extraordinary and unprecedented naval blockade—which will now be lifted—can begin the process of 'coming home!'" he wrote.
