"I can reveal one thing about my trial in Hungary : last week I received a document from the Hungarian court saying they're terminating the criminal proceedings against me , so the case is more than suspended, let's say. In theory, they could reopen it, but only by starting from scratch." This was stated by Avs MEP Ilaria Salis on "Un Giorno da Pecora" on Rai Radio1.

Regarding the reasons for the closure of the proceedings, which saw Salis charged for alleged involvement in an attack on neo-Nazis during a demonstration in Budapest, the MEP explained: " Parliament confirmed immunity after the confirmation vote , taking a somewhat long time. They received this communication and thus closed the proceedings."

The news comes in the wake of Viktor Orban and his party's defeat in the Hungarian general elections, where Péter Magyar's TISZA party prevailed.
