Hungary, the sentence of Ilaria Salis' co-defendant reduced on appeal
One year and 10 months for Tobias Edelhoff, arrested with the 39-year-old Italian: "He was present, but did not participate in the attacks"
In Hungary, a co-defendant of Ilaria Salis - the 39-year-old Italian on trial in Budapest on charges of assaulting two neo-Nazi militants - was sentenced in second degree to one year and ten months in prison.
This is Tobias Edelhoff , a 29-year-old German, arrested together with Salis on 11 February 2023.
The sentence was pronounced today by the Court of Appeal, which "lightened" the first degree sentence, when the judges had given the 29-year-old three years.
The prosecutor's office had appealed against the sentence for a more severe sentence, while the lawyers had presented a request for a lighter sentence.
The Court of Appeal accepted the latter appeal, establishing that the accused did not participate in the attacks, even if present.
