The Gaza Health Ministry reported that 970 people were killed , including one foreign staff member working for United Nations organizations . Five UN officials were injured in the bombing of their headquarters in the central governorate of Deir al-Balah. An IDF spokesman denied the attack .

Meanwhile, this morning Hamas announced that it "has not closed the door to negotiations." This was reiterated by a leader of the movement, Taher al-Nounou, after the massive bombings on Gaza and the Israeli government's threats of escalation.

" Hamas has not closed the door to negotiations, but we insist that there is no need for new agreements ," Nounou said, contacted by telephone from Cairo.
