It's the cry of pain from a mother who just wants to see her son return home. Her son has been held hostage for nearly 23 months, and she has threatened Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a "murder" lawsuit if her son isn't released alive.
“Netanyahu, if my Matan returns in a coffin (...), I will personally make sure that you are charged with murder,” said Einav Zangauker, a leading figure of the Hostage Families Forum in Tel Aviv, before a rally calling for their release.
Matan Zangauker was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, along with 200 other people, during the unprecedented attack by the Islamist movement Hamas in southern Israel.
"If Netanyahu chooses to occupy the Gaza Strip instead of accepting the currently proposed (truce) agreement, it will be equivalent to executing our hostages and our dear soldiers," the mother stressed during a press conference outside the Ministry of Defense, while, not far away, thousands of protesters were calling for the release of the hostages and an end to the war in Gaza.
Of the 251 people abducted on October 7, 47 remain in Gaza , about 20 of whom are believed to be alive. Israeli military reprisals have caused at least 63,371 deaths in the Gaza Strip, mostly civilians , according to Hamas Health Ministry data, which is considered reliable by the United Nations.
