France bans iPhone 12s.

The Apple phone launched in 2020 can no longer be marketed in the country beyond the Alps due to exceeding the limit values on electromagnetic waves emitted and absorbed by the human body , according to the National Frequency Agency (Anfr).

The authority also asks Apple to "adopt all available means to quickly remedy this malfunction" on devices already sold , under penalty of their withdrawal, it specifies in a press release.

«I have faith in the company's sense of responsibility in respecting our rules. My mission is to enforce them. If he doesn't do it, I am ready to order the withdrawal of the iPhone 12 in circulation ", declared the French Digital Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, in an interview with Le Parisien, specifying that to bring the smartphone into compliance "a simple software update".

Apple has 15 days to comply. Concretely, according to the French agency, the iPhone 12 exceeds the regulatory limit value corresponding to the energy that can be absorbed by the human body when the phone is held in the hand by 1.74 W per kilogram (W/kg).

Apple meanwhile denies this and has assured that the iPhone 12 is certified as compliant with the standards defined throughout the world by numerous international organizations. The Californian giant said it has provided the Anfr with the results of independent laboratory studies carried out by third parties to demonstrate that its devices meet the standards and intends to contest the agency's findings.
