Eastern Europe, with few vaccinated people, is in full Covid emergency. Not only is the number of infections very high (as indeed in Great Britain) but also, unlike the United Kingdom, also that of deaths and patients in hospitals.

The situation is dramatic in Romania , not even 20 million inhabitants and less than 30% who have completed the vaccination cycle. We go from record to record, day after day: in the last 24 hours, 18,863 infections were recorded, equal to over 23% of the tests carried out, while the victims in one day were 561.

The health system is in collapse: there are no vacancies in intensive care, with 1,800 Covid patients. A few dozen sick people have been transferred to Hungary, while aid arrives from other European countries, including neighboring Moldova which has sent a team of doctors.

In Latvia (49% of vaccinated with full cycle) the lockdown returns. From Thursday until November 15 the shops close and gatherings are forbidden, indoors and outdoors. Also introduced the curfew from 20 to 5 in the morning.

The government fa mea culpa: "We, the government and society as a whole have not been able to achieve sufficient vaccination coverage. So we must ask you to suspend your lives for a few weeks to avoid the worst possible scenario," said the Latvian minister. of health Daniels Pavļuts.

In Ukraine (only 15% completed the vaccination cycle) the Ministry of Health announced 538 deaths in the last 24 hours, the highest figure ever recorded in the country (the previous high was on 7 April, with 481 victims).

In Poland - reports the Guardian - in the last week there was an increase in infections of 85% compared to seven days earlier. Here 52% are fully vaccinated.

Bulgaria today has 4,979 new infections, the highest daily figure since March 24. In the country only 24% are fully vaccinated and there is also pressure on hospitals with over 6,200 patients (537 in intensive care).
