Singer Mahmood has been named as a witness in a civil lawsuit seeking compensation for sexual assault involving designer Riccardo Tisci, former creative director of Givenchy and Burberry.
The case is unfolding in New York and is linked to a complaint filed in 2025 by 35-year-old Patrick Cooper . According to the documents from the case, published online by American freelancer Louis Pisano, who extracted them from official and accessible US justice databases, the man claims to have met Tisci at a bar in the city in June 2024 and has no clear memory of what happened afterward. Cooper's complaint also alleges that Tisci ingested some type of substance in his drink, so much so that he woke up naked with no memory of the incident.
Tisci has always denied all charges, claiming he had nothing to do with the incident. Mahmood, who is not under investigation, appears implicated because both Cooper and Tisci reportedly mentioned him as one of those present at the New York event.
According to documents published online, Riccardo Tisci's defense requested that Mahmood be heard as a witness, since Cooper had identified the singer as the person who passed him the drink. According to documents released on X by American freelancer Louis Pisano , Tisci's lawyers initially asked Mahmood to give a voluntary deposition. According to the same reconstruction, this request was not granted without a judge. For this reason, the defense then initiated an international procedure to request that any testimony be taken by the Italian authorities.
