On Thursday morning, Frankfurt International Airport, the most important in Germany, suspended arrivals and departures for a few hours after a group of climate activists raided the landing and take-off runways.

The protest was organized by Letzte Generation (i.e. the German branch of Ultima Generation): six activists managed to enter the airport by cutting the fences with shears and arriving on the slopes with bicycles and skateboards.

In a photo released by the same ecological organization, an activist can be seen sitting on the asphalt of a landing and take-off runway with a sign reading "Oil Kills".

Then the intervention of the police, who managed to evict the group.

The activists were calling for a binding agreement to permanently end all fossil fuels by 2030. Similar protests have been recorded in recent weeks at various German airports and also at Heathrow, England.
