«Little Nadia announced herself with an earthquake». Jokes Gianni Attardi, former PCI municipal councilor of Nuoro. The granddaughter, yesterday at 4.40, was born on the other side of the world, in Taiwan, at the moment in which the earth was shaking from the 7.4 magnitude earthquake, the strongest recorded in the last 25 years in the Asian country and which it created damage and devastation. But not for everyone. In the Attardi household, first the great fear over the news of the earthquake which also involved their son Nicola, who works in the capital Taipei, then the unexpected news: the granddaughter was born at that very moment at least ten days early.

The novella

Nadia is a beautiful little girl weighing about three kilos, born in the clinic in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. The news was broken on social media by his grandfather, Gianni Attardi, who from Nuoro said: «Last night Nicola sent us photos of his office turned upside down, computers on the floor, books and furniture. Everything turned upside down – says Gianni – he told us not to worry because he was fine. With my wife, Pina Chessa, we were anxious." Then shortly afterwards the other unexpected news arrived, "it swept everything away - says Pina - it managed to erase everything, even Nicola who was initially worried was euphoric". His wife had a check-up with the gynecologist just yesterday: «the shock must have moved something – says the grandfather on the other side of the world – Nadia was announced by a shock» he adds «she was born in April, she is Aries»

Call from the Rising Sun

The time difference did not prevent communication between the Nuoro family and their son Nicola Attardi, a graduate in virtual design and graphics first and then in eco design, who in the 5 years he emigrated to Ireland, met his wife Ryana Liu, a real Taiwanese. In 2019 he left Novartis, the company where he worked, to move to his wife's country, finding employment at Hann Link. «They got married and came to Sardinia for Christmas – says the father – Ryana absolutely wants to return, she was struck by the open fireplace, she had never seen it in a house. We are waiting for them for the European Championships to meet my niece", a woman from Nuoro born during the earthquake.
