Awaiting in the next few hours the sentence of the popular jury of the Provincial Court of Girona which will have to decide on the request for a sentence of 24 years and 9 of probation made by the Prosecutor against Rassoul Bissoultanov, the Chechen who participated in the beating of Niccolò Ciatti , the 22 year old from Scandicci (Florence) who died in August 2017 in a nightclub in Lloret de Mar.

The Girona trial opened after Bissoultanov was first arrested and sent to pre-trial detention in Spain. Released at the expiry of the terms of the precautionary measure, he was then arrested in Germany and extradited to Italy, but later released from prison by decision of the Court of Assizes of Rome (later revoked by the Supreme Court). At the beginning of 2022 he returned to Girona, where he was formed .

"We owe justice to the Ciatti family - said the prosecutor Victor Pillado yesterday -, we owe a just and responsible sentence".

Bissoultanov defended himself in the courtroom stating that he "went into panic" and "did not want" to hit the Florentine boy to death. "I didn't want to kill him," he said in court in statements during the third hearing of the trial. The defense argues that it was a matter of intentional homicide, a crime punishable by up to four years in prison.

But according to what was reconstructed by the Prosecutor's Office, the 22-year-old Tuscan was killed by a kick with a "lethal" potential delivered by a person "expert in fighting techniques and not by chance" . That kick that hit the boss Niccolò - claimed one of the technicians who appeared yesterday in front of the court - was not given "as a person without experience in martial arts would do, or more like giving a soccer ball, but rather by shifting the weight and giving it maximum strength ". In short , a kick launched with skill and to have a devastating effect .

"Having the accused knowledge of fighting techniques, as a connoisseur of the discipline of wrestling, he delivered a strong intentional kick to the area of the head" of the victim, a blow "which led inexorably to his death", is written in the papers of the power of attorney. The cause of death, " cerebral haemorrhage " as a result of the blow suffered, was also confirmed by the coroners who conducted the autopsy on Ciatti's body.
