Former Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang , 68, died last night due to a heart attack , state network CCTV reported.

Li led the government for ten years , until the beginning of last March when he passed the baton to Li Qiang.

Li Keqiang, "member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the XVII, XVIII, XIX Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and former premier of the State Council, lived in Shanghai .

Yesterday he suffered a sudden heart attack and, despite all the efforts made to save him, he died during the night.

“A formal obituary will be published following the announcement,” CCTV reported.
