The human remains found in Florida, in a natural park in the Tampa region, are by Brian Laundrie. The FBI confirms it.

Thus ends the hunt for the 23-year-old boyfriend and main suspect in the death of Gabby Petito , found strangled last month in the Teton National Forest in Wyoming. The crime allegedly took place during an "on the road" vacation that the young woman was having with Brian between various US states.

Only the boy had returned home in early September, but when it became clear that Gabby had disappeared and the investigation had focused on him, he had disappeared into thin air.

A few hours ago the discovery of human remains in an area of the Carlton Reserve in North Port - near the place where some objects belonging to Laundrie were found, including a backpack, a notebook and some clothes - an area that until recently ago it was submerged by water, a swampy area inhabited by various species of snakes and alligators. Hence the difficulty encountered by coroners in identifying the victim. Also nearby is the skeleton of a dog.

It remains to be seen if the boy committed suicide or if the causes of death are other. The truth could be contained in the notebook which, according to media reports, is heavily deteriorated but which could be partially recovered.

The only indictment currently weighing on him was that of using two of Gabby's credit cards after the girl's death. The relations between the two, this is the hypothesis of the investigators, would have cracked during their solitary experience and the tension could have culminated in the murder.
