During an operation against an armed criminal gang, the Brazilian police killed 25 people. A struggle is underway in the country to deal with groups of criminals who organize bank robberies in the southern part.
According to the authorities' report, the raid was initiated after learning that a gang was planning a "coup" in the city of Varginha, in the state of Minas Gerais.
The agents would react to return fire from the criminals: "They had weapons of war and explosives," explained a spokesman.
