"I won't take long, but this country is facing very difficult challenges and the future of America depends on your generation . You can ignore what is happening, but you do so at your own peril. We need you to stand up and fight for justice." This was said by US Senator Bernie Sanders, who unexpectedly took the stage at the Coachella Festival. The political appeal was greeted with thunderous applause.

Earlier, Sanders and Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez held a rally titled “Take Down the Oligarchy,” which organizers said drew 36,000 people. Sanders delivered his speech by introducing pop singer Clairo, whom he thanked for using her platform to support women’s rights and speaking out to end the war in Gaza. He then urged the crowd at Coachella — California’s premier desert music festival that marks the unofficial start of music festival season — to stand up against billionaires, health insurance companies and the current White House . “You can look the other way and ignore what’s happening, but you do so at your own peril. We need you to stand up, to fight for justice. For economic, social and racial justice,” he said.
